They either hang out with themselves.. or only like to hang out with high class/fashionable/ stylish/cool/sassy Americans but never would they consider us Poor people/minorities as being Americans, so they dont' want to meet us. It has happened to me, and it keeps happening. They are sooo happy with cool Americans, but if they ever meet me they are so bored and with face of disgust even if i'm being friendly and even if I know some Japanese.

The Japanese people who only hang out with other Japanese people are often just really shy and embarrassed to use English because they are afraid they will mess up. Staying with other people who speak their language is safe and comfortable for them.

Stereotypically, Japanese do think of white people when they think of America. I don't know what race you are, but it is possible that they are a little intimidated by you because you are a minority. Japan doesn't have diversity, so they may be unsure of how to interact with you. For example, many Japanese knowledge of African Americans comes from rap and hip-hop culture and movies that show these stereotypes. So, if they came across an African-American, they may assume that they act kind of like the rappers or actors.

I don't know how many Japanese people you have felt do not like you, but if it has only been a few, it may just be that they don't share your interests. This could happen to anyone of any race/nationality. If you don't have anything in common, then they may not see the point in becoming friends.

Well, I actually live in Japan and I am from N.Am. But I would say that many many many of the Japn folks want to speak English and maybe they see your Japanese ability as getting in the way of their chance to speak English?

I experience this a bit. It's good when you can share your languages and take turns speaking and replying in Japanese and then later on do some English conversation.

When you describe yourself as poor, how poor are you? You ain't livin' out of a cardboard box right?...........Nor are you living in a van down by the river?

Actually, what you are describing could be true of any nationality, to be honest. People, are drawn to high class, high society, beautiful people, or intelligent people, of high status. It is with all cultures, and can be unfortunate, as there are some awesome "little" people out there in the world, they are missing out on. Maybe they figure, if they are on vacation, time is short, they need to be choosy in who they hang out with. Maybe it is nothing personal? I would say "oh well" their loss....no worries on your end.
