The answer to your question would be very simple if you had ever rolled up to the scene of an accident in an ambulance and you have to put a family of four in body bags and send them to the morgue, then turn around and put a band aid on the drunk driver that killed them all... it is not a scam, everyone who drives drunk is a potential murderer, and it doesnt matter how much you have had to drink, because you wont care that you only had a few beers when you have to talk to whatever is left of the family you killed, or the parents of the daughter you ran over on her way home from school. Don't drink and drive.

LOL please..... I have never gotten a dime of money from any DWI that i have taken to jail. I have however known a few people that have been killed by drunk drivers. Kinda like the three from my neighboring town last week, high school students. Im sure theyre parents would love your question and some of the comments about it. In case some of you didnt know, raises at least where im from, are based on the amount of time you have served on the force.

I agree with your comment so much, that's all they are out for is to make money. .08 what a joke, my biggest thing is MAD they have nothing else to do is to go and fight for lower limits, When a person gets a DWI they make them go to a MAD class why is that? If a person rapes someone, do they have to goto a class and give money to a group like MAD? Not that I have ever heard of. I just saw in the paper the other day they were using night vision to catch people that had been drinking. Come on the police have nothing else to do? (No they know if they bust the working man he will pay his tickets so he can goto work the next day.) I know that drinking and driving is wrong, but come on I think that they have went over board here.. Look how many people have them.. Just my 2 cents!

Excellent question! Tho one would not disagree that drunk driving is serious, the threshold has been defined so small that it's outright prohibition. I still can not believe that the Supreme Court has ruled road blocks are legal! Welcome to Big Brother & the totalitatian state. And we all know, throw enough money at lawyers and "rehab centers" and you get out. Look at all the for-profit probation & counseling operations that are associated with the court system. Plus, jails and prisons are being privatized...they have to keep them filled to make money.

Yes. In Texas you do not have to be over the 'legal limit' to be found guilty of a DWI. One drink these days can get you a criminal record and make money for the state.

1st DWI - $1,040 min to the state every year for three years
2nd DWI - $2,080 min every year for three years

well, in a way yeah! because in case u don't know, cops get rewarded from what i know! whoever gets the most guys who where drinking get a reward and of course a raise. I'm not saying some cops don't care about other peoples life's, but i know everyone wants to get a raise right? thats the reason they give out tickets! They dont only use that money to fix roads, they use it to get paid also!

Spoken just like a person who got caught and is mad about the amount of money it's going to cost them.

Don't drink and drive and you'll have NOTHING to worry about.
