Spiritualism has been with us, since the dawn of age. Well before any religion. I would even go has far as saying, that most religions are started from Spiritualism.. Wise words from the spirit world.
1 the fatherhood of god
2 the brotherhood of man
3 the ministry of angels
4 reward or retribution for good or evil deeds
5 the continual development of the human soul
6 personal responsibility
7 the continual existence of the human soul......
Are the beliefs.....
So, is Spiritualism the way forward??

It can be a way forward but not the only way forward.
If we had the guts and intestinal fortitude to strip away all the layers covering every religion conceived by human beings, we would discover our spiritual natures. From this would blossom respect for all simply because we would recognize the spirit within each and every one of us. From there...
We would recognize the spirit of life in all aspects of life on this planet - including the planet itself. We would become true stewards and caretakers of the earth; creating heaven here.

Spiritualism as a religion has only been around about 150 years and was started by the Fox sisters, once they provided good evidence it spread around the world quite quickly.
I have been a Spiritualist for many years now, and for me there is no other way forward. Unlike the other religions that are so strong in preaching there ways, and spending a ot of time controlling the people, telling them what they must do, or not do, doing things in the name of God has been used as a bribe for so long, but not in Spiritualism we force nothing on you, and make no promises, all we offer is love and understanding to those who come to us.
We, at least i feel i do offer evidence of the afterlife, but again nothing is forced you are free to make up your own mind, there will be many saying it's rubbish, it's the work of the devil, and there is no afterlife, but no one can prove us wrong, NO ONE, and as far as being the work of the devil, we are not the ones who ask others to murder in God's name.
There is so much more with in Spiritualism, that other religions are worried that we are what we know all ready, and than is right. Spiritualism does not come from books, it comes from God, and let those on this site reading this prove otherwise.
Yes Spiritualism is the way forward.

I'm a Spiritualist myself - and I work the churches as a speaker and demonstrator - but is Spiritualism the way forward. I don't think so.
It don't believe Spiritualism was ever meant to evolve into a dogmatic religion. But instead was just the mechanism for the time(1900's) to get the teachings heard without persecution (although it took until 1951 in the UK for that to happen).
It was prophesised by a particular president of a paticular Spiritualist organisation many years ago, that the churches will eventually close as a new generation of aware children and young adults replace the older generation of mediums. Those of a younger generation will not nor need to understand the dogmatic rituals that comforted for many years the older generations - instead opting to use there abilities and knowledge as it was meant to be used - in their everyday life.

As a Spiritualist, i would say there is no other better way forward than with Spiritualism, we cause no wars and we send peace and compassion to the world through healing prayer.
We believe everybody has the right to have their own faith and that should be respected, not judged or scorned.
We have faith in what we practise and a true spiritualis never abandons their faith as they know their faith will never abandon them even in the darkest of hours. Everything happens for a reason, good and bad. We just have to have faith to ask why we attracted certain circumstances into our lives for what we put out we receive back tenfold. No more laying the blame for things at other peoples doors and accusing people of things to cover up our own faults or insecurities. We take the blame for everything ourselves, good and bad that happens to us and use this as a means to improve ourselves further through experience of our souls in the earthly body. We accept we are not nor ever will be perfect but we do our best to be as good and kind as we can be for human beings and accept our faults. We look to the world of spirit for guidance and hope the light shines on the world and brings peace and love to at least some of the people instead of war and hatred and judgemental pointing fingers. Happy New Year and Peace and Love to you.

Spiritualism is a way forward, but combining it with Science you get Spiritism, which is a logical explanation of our lives here, as well as the other side, the Spirit World.
To "Nathaniel S", your Aunt's experience may be the way it is because she refuses to believe. It is guaranteed that she is still alive, you contacted her. When individuals dis-incarnate from the corporeal world, and refuse to understand the life they return to, they can become lost. Even fervent believers in Christianity or Islam, or any other religions, who refuse the weight of their situation upon returning to the spirit world can lose their way, if they refuse to understand.

Why do you need a way forward? Do you need a "spiritual" crutch to lean on because your mind lacks strength? Read some books, mate, get wise, grow up, and stop leaning on lies and half-truths. The "way forward" if you need one, should be lifting the veil of credulousness from your benighted mind. Peace.

There is not God, angels, spiritual karma, or soul. All of this sounds like a repackaging of religion.
Which it is.
And of course it will eventually become judgmental, moralistic, and bellicose over time.

My dead aunt Flora recently told me during a seance that there is no life after death. She was a furvent atheist during her life on this earth, and this is further proof of what a stubbon old crow she really is. I hope this answers your question.
