We cought him eating something in a friend's garden, and we stopped him, but he had already eaten some, and there were fish bones among them. Have you had any such experience? If he has no symptom for a couple of days does this mean there is no problem?

PS. I have already called the vet, she said to watch for symptoms for 2 days, but I am wondering if anyone has had some similar experience and if so, what symptoms to expect.

I would watch him close over they next few days. If he starts vomiting, not eating, or not being able to poop could mean that one of the bones is obstructing his intestines. If he doesnt show any signs after a few days you should be clear. Also if he is vomiting it could be a sign that he has inflamation of his liver, pancreas, or kidneys, but the vet will run a simple blood test to determine if there are any problems. If there arent any signs then you should be in the clear. Good luck and try not to let him get ahold of the neighbors trash (I know thats near impossible with some dogs lol).

While I haven't had this problem myself, I have seen it happen a number of times. Symptoms to look for generally begin with depression: decreased activity and lethargy. This is generally followed with refusal to eat, vomiting and/or diarrhea. We generally recommend watching for these signs for 48-72 hours, although some pets digest slower, and take longer to show symptoms of discomfort. If it has been longer than 72 hours and your pet is bouncy and happy as normal, then you are probably out of the woods - count yourself lucky! However, if your pet begins to show any of these signs or symptoms don't wait. Get him to the vet immediately so they can further evaluate if he may need emergency surgery.
I hope you don't have any problems and all passes well.
Good luck!!

Vomiting, diarrhea, change in behavior, loss of appetitie, lethargy, etc. We usually tell people to feed several small meals in an effort to bind with the item eaten and move it though the intestines. If anything is going to get caught up, you usually see symtoms in that 48 hour period.

Best advice we give pet owners is any behavior or sympton which makes you feel concerned is enough reason to call the vet.

Usually if they are going to have symptoms it is in the next couple of days. He would start refusing food and just feel unwell. He would probably have pain in his abdomen. He would probably not be very bouncy and active. If he is acting normal he is probably not going to have a problem.
