whiskey never turns bad drink it. crowns some good stuff. I use it to make my version of the black tooth grin about a 16 oz glass filled with ice cubes about 2 or 3 shots crown royal 1 shot of wild Turkey 101 coke in that order. the original recipe called for Seagram's 7 instead of bourbon but i think my version tastes better. very smooth I drink 3 or 4 of them and I'm feeling great.

I had the same question a while ago! I have an equally old unopened bottle and a friend of mine said I had a great thing. He said that it started out already aged 12 years before getting into the bottle I have, and I've had it unopened for another 30. It's supposed to just keep mellowing out ... I don't actually know ... I don't drink it! Maybe I'll start someday and from what I heard, and the answers you have, my bottle (or yours) will be an excellent starting point!

Even an opened bottle would be fine after only a year. An unopened bottle such as yours will be exactly like buying a brand new bottle today. With proper storage liquor has an almost indefinite shelf life.

It's safe to drink, but something aged that long is a treat, not something to be wasted. Why drink it now? Put it aside and save it for a truly special occasion, like a big anniversary or your kid's wedding. The taste will just continue to mellow over the years.

Wow!! that bottle is probably worth some money. I am sure it is perfectly safe to drink. However, you could probably get a pretty penny if you put it up for auction on ebay.
