this works wonders and if he can't keep from marking he can wear it to the rest of the families houses.

It is first important to note that this is a natural behavior for male dogs - even those who are neutered. They mark their territory. Even if he has never done this before, it is instinct and therefore difficult to break.
In order to break the behavior cycle you must first catch him in the act. If your pet is generally well-behaved and has some basic obedience training you should be able to say his name to get his attention, tell him no, and take him directly outside. I know this means that while you are outside the urine is soaking into the carpet, but it is very important that he understands that marking inside the house is unacceptable behavior.
Be sure to use a good cleaning product which will remove the odor of the urine, or the pet is likely to repeat the behavior. (Nature's Miracle is good for places where you can't use bleach).
In order to prevent this from happening in the future it is helpful to walk the dog well prior to taking him inside the house (thereby allowing him to relieve himself outside, reinforcing the good behavior). When you enter the house, allow him to smell the areas he will be exposed to while you are present (preferably on a leash so you can immediately catch any undesirable behavior). If he still seems prone to marking inside other's houses you can keep him in the room with you, so you can monitor his behavior on a consistant basis until he is able to wander the house without leaving notice that he was there.

the terrific ingredient is to have him neutered, of direction; no longer in straightforward terms for the spraying yet to renounce him from roaming the community while he smells a woman cat on warmth - adult males can roam for miles. That exposes them to the hazards of the line and automobiles - a distinctive no, no. the threat for older cats going for surgical tactics is the anaesthesia... I frightened ad infinitum while my 8-year previous had undergo dental paintings below an aneasthetic. yet take your cat to a good vet, and he will examine te well-known well-being of your cat and if he's as much as the neutering technique (its very rapid and the cat is basically no longer below anaesthesia for long). There are very secure gas anaesthetics now. additionally, make constructive that the vet has a technician monitoring mandatory indicators in the time of the technique - this is important. if your cat has a heart murmur, the vet will inform you the hazards. additionally, i'm afraid the spraying won't provide up right this moment even after the neutering simply by presence of alternative cats - he's "marking" territory or a minimum of asserting, "I stay here!" My neutered male cat nonetheless sprays every time we pass to a clean place and he sees different cats around. fortunately, he sprays flowers exterior! as quickly as or twce, he tried to spray on a plastic plant - I basically have been given "sshhusshed" at him actual loud to startle him and supply up him; then i squirted lemon-scented water on all my plastic residing house flowers - cat's by no skill executed it lower back.

HE really should see a vet soon. A dog or cat may make a public display in order to bring your attention to a health issue, urinary tract problems which may be very pianful and even life threatening. This sort of thing needs to be ruled out before you try any retraining.

He could be marking his territory. He might do it out of separation anxiety from you leaving. Maybe a bladder infection. He could have bladder problems because of a tumor or some other issue. I don't think his being Spayed has anything to do with it. I'd talk to the Vet if I were you.

He is senting because he feels threatend or wants to make his presence known to the other dogs. He must have smelt a dog or something at your in-laws. Our neutered cat will sent mark (by rubbing not spraying though) anything that has been in contact with dogs or other cats.
