i read somewhere that you could play the\slots if you were 18 is that true? oh and my husbands uncle says even if i cant gamble that i can just go in there and watch. but my husband thinks that since they give you free drinks at the tables that i wont even be allowed in. is that true? if i am not allowed in these buildings is there anything a 18 yr old can do in Atlantic City or should i just stay home?

There are signs all over that specify if you are caught under 21, you will be punished (at least in the trump casinos) and it is illegal to even stand near the slots, some ask for ID just if you stand there. I used to sit next to my best friend while she played and never got carded and my little sister played (she has more guts than me). So it is illegal but it is up to you whether or not you would like to take the chance. Good Luck either way!

Sorry but it is 21 for almost everything. You cannot physically be in the gaming areas or standing anywhere near gambling if you are 19. You cannot play or watch slots, or any other gambling game if you are in the gaming area.

Of course you can try walking around. If they don't see you playing anything, they may ignore you for a while if you look older. But if they think you look close to 21, there is a good chance they will ID you.

I know that makes no sense, as you are legally an adult. But that's just the way the crazy law works. Maybe you should protest the crazy law and demand that the government give adults all legal rights at the age of 18. Sadly, you will probably do what most people do. As soon as they hit 21 they forget about the three year nonsense gap when you are a legal adult, but are discriminated against like a child.

The gambling age in New Jersey is
Lottery = 18
Parimutuel Betting = 18
Casinos & Slot Machines (includes VLTs) = 21
Charity Bingo & Pull-tabs = 18

If you are not of age you will not be allowed in a gambling establismnet.

I was just up there last week. It would be my first and last time there.
You must be 21 to gamble and pretty much all there is to do in AC is gamble. You'll probably end up being bored most of the time. I think the only cool place there for underage is the Tropicana; they have an imax theatre inside the resort. Also, they have a cool water show inside the shops next to Caesars.

If you want to risk going on the gaming floor. All you have to do if you get carded is tell them that you don't have any identification. They will just walk you off of the gaming floor. If you are a minor and actually are gambling and get carded and give them your identification they are required to detain you until a gaming agent gets there. Again, if you tell them you don't have any ID they will just walk you off the gaming floor. Some casinos have specific areas that minors are allowed to loiter, usually the hotel lobby.
