The officer forgot to write in my speed. it simply says _____ in a 65 mph zone. any suggestions? I will be out of the state for my court date and months thereafter...

It should be, that's an important kind of detail. That's provided he left it out on all copies of the ticket, especially the ones he turned in. Or, the judge may also just take the officer's word for it if he testifies. Your best bet is to contact the court clerk and ask them.

You will have to go to court and ask the judge to dismiss it, based on the fact the ticket fails to allege a crime was committed. If you don't appear a warrant may be issued for your arrest. Best to go to court when you are scheduled, or write the court asking for a new court date.

You need to show up for that court date, or get it postponed. Your ticket will not be dismissed unless you appear before the judge and tell him the reason you think your case should be dismissed. It looks like you have a good chance of getting it dismissed if you do.

I would file an appeal. It will likely be dismissed. You can do this right now.

Otherwise, if you are not present, you will automatically lose and have to pay a fine. You can't just not be in town for your court date. Start the appeal process. Check with the court house or city hall.

i suggest you go to the courthouse and talk to the clerk who you would pay your fine to and find out
