LCD TVs use around the same amount of energy/electricity as the old CRT type tv.

Plasma TVs are energy monsters.

Added to which Plasma Tvs are much heavier on carbon emissions.

Update: Tony = you are completely wrong about Plasmas having the same energy use. Read the link. They use as much as 4 times as much energy. Also LCDs have better screen resolution and sharper picture than plasmas.

Plasma uses gas to display the picture. LCD is Liquid Crystal Display.

Plasma is made up of millions of tiny glass tubes - LCD is made up from a liquid formula
Plasma screens are more susceptible to breakages because of the glass tubes - once broken.... it's ruined

up to 42" lcd are better. above this plasma have a slight edge. if you intend gaming on it avoid plasma. the best on the market at present is the sony bravia range.

The quality of picture is better on plasma when you go for bigger screen. Up to 32 inch screen is better on LCD.POWER USEAGE THE SAME BUT LCD SHOULD LAST LONGER.

I also think you can hook up your computer to an LCD but I'm not sure.
