Bless the poor confused puss cat!

All cats get a bit confused when they move house and it will be worse for the older ones. He doesnt want to go outside because he knows he will have to fight for territory and might not be able to.

Give him lots of fuss and attention and dont force him to go outside if he doesnt want to. He will get used to his new house and explore more and more as he gets more comfortable.

If he hasnt eaten for more than a few days worth trying really smelly fish, especially if its slightly warmed up to make it stinkier. He wont be able to resist. If still no luck might be worth another trip to the vets.

Has he had any blood work done recently? I note the vet gave a steroid injection which can be used to treat everything from tumors to inflammatory bowel disease. I would question why the injection, as it may have been used to treat the reason your tom cat doesn't feel well. You don't say how elderly, but the stress of the move may have allowed symptons of an underlying illness to surface. I'd talk back to the vet's office to find out what they gave for injections and why.

Toms have a territorial nature, if he's a bit elderly he's probably a bit down in the dumps as he feels less inclined to go out and stake his claim for his new area...give him time but watch the eating thing...also make sure he is drinking water. When he starts going out again he will build up more of an appetite as he is exercising more. if he likes a fuss...give him lots of attention...speak to him and just let him know he's there.

Put a little bit of butter on each of his feet each day he will spend so much time concentrating on licking it off he will hopefully start to adjust to his new surroundings.
Or
How about a kitten if he is quite a friendly cat maybe it would give him a sense of having something to teach clean protect and look after to take his mind off the move ?

make constructive there is foodstuff around the basket once you introduce the cats to the hot residing house. The cats would know that this could nicely be a secure place and that they are going to know that they are going to be fed. on the 1st evening convey the basket into your mattress room and enable them to sleep there for the evening. the subsequent evening go away the basket interior the landing with the mattress room door open-nonetheless allowing them to know your nonetheless there. next evening do a similar ingredient yet close the door. Then positioned the basket the place ever you like- at this degree they could desire to be comfortable with their environment and can know which you're nonetheless here. basically save a watch on them and feed them a sprint extra suitable than customary for the 1st week. wish it helped!

Can't add much to what Joanne wrote. Maybe, substitute some food on his paws, so, he's eating something. It took my cats a week or so, to adjust. They are both happy kitties, now.
