The road on a highway is wider, meaning that objects and landmarks on the side of the road are further away, which gives the impression they're not going past you as quickly. Also, on the highway everyone else drives faster than they do on country roads, so you don't feel you're driving that quickly in comparison to them.

the first answer is right, its all about perception and relativity
whats even worse is going 100 mph or so and then slowing to 70, you'll feel like your crawling

because of space ! like if you travel low to the ground at 30 you feel like you are going 60 and if you travel 60 high up you feel slower its all to do with how you mind perceive's things
