The easiest way to learn french is e.g going to Paris. When you are living abroad you have to speak in foreign languages. You are surrounded by people who use french in their everyday live. Believe me it is true.

I moved from New York City to Quebec in Canada. For two years I didn't want to learn the language. Once I finally realised that I didn't have much choice, I watched tv in french, read the papers in french and read one page of an english-french dictionary every day to broaden my vocabulary.
You can get some great cd's and tapes that you can use in the car while you drive.
But the best way is to practice and not give a hoot what people say about it....
Bon apprentissage...!

The folks who mentioned immersion are absolutely correct. My only addition would be to point out that one doesn't have to go all the way to France to accomplish this. Assuming one is American, Québec is a lot closer, cheaper, and friendlier than France.
A couple of weeks spent among native Francophones will do wonders for your French. Bonne chance!

There is no easy way to learn a language, it always takes a lot of work. That said immersion is great for two reasons. First you can't escape the languge, you have to learn it. Second, there are constant opertunities to practice. You still need to hit the books, even with immersion.
Bon chance avec français!

Put yourself in situations where you have to speak it frequently. Go to Quebec or France or somewhere where you must speak French to survive. You'll pick it up pretty quickly!
