I own a 2004 Kia Amanti. I love everything about it. It has a great exterior design and nice features. Front and rear leather seats are comfortable and the audio controls and climate controls on the dashboard truly give the Amanti a luxurious touch. Other nice special features on the Amanti are front and rear seat warmers, trip computer, 16" alloy wheels. wood-grain interior accents, 4-way power adjustable front passenger's seat, AM/FM/Cassette/CD with 8 speakers and in dash 6 CD disc changer. Not to mention its safety features that i saw was 8 airbags including side curtains, ABS and ESC.

Read Consumer Reports Used Car Buying Guide and/or New Car Buying Guide. You will find it in any bookstore or library.
They survey hundreds of thousands of car owners to see what their experiences are. That is worth a lot more than the stories of 5 or 6 people. Much smarter and more scientific way to get your information.
Consumer Reports is NON BIASED. They do not take advertising from anyone. They just survey people who own cars, test the cars extensively themselves and report the truth. Period.
As for Kia's, you can get some amazing deals on a used one. Buying a new one is incredibly dumb because it will depreciate like a rock and be work 50% what you paid for it after less than 2 years probably.
Check Consumer Reports and you will see what the truth is about Kia's.
Check www.edmunds.com TCO (True Cost To Own) on a new Kia and compare it to a new Honda or Toyota and see if you are really saving money or not on that bargain basement Korean special.
Best of luck to you whatever you choose and props for trying to be a more educated consumer. Smart move!

I have had KIA`s since 1997 and never had any problems with any of them.
I have had:
Kia Pride
Kia Sephia
Kia Clarus
and am presently driving a KIA RIO - a perfect
little car. I drive about 20000 miles a year.

A buddy of mine bought a KIA. He said that he has had nothing but problems out of it but they are very good about honoring the warranty. Any time he has to take it in, they fix it right away and he is seldom without his car for more than a day but its still inconvenient having to have the car break down multiple times.

I have a KIA Sportage. I got it the first year they came out in 1999 and am still driving it. Haven't really had to many problems with the vehicle. My problem was with the dealership in Peoria, IL. They have a very unreliable service department. I would have another KIA in a heartbeat if I didn't have to deal with the local dealership.
