You either chose to speak in one langauge or another.
It is not the language you change, its how well you speak it.
The sentence you wrote should read:
How do I improve my __________(your language)? It isn't always correct. When I read my mail, my grammar (notice the spelling of this word) was incorrect.
If you regularly read the newspapers out loud, it can help improve the way you speak and read.
