Satellite receivers in mobile phones so you could watch TV on the mobile while commuting.. you could program 62.5 deg E and an inbuilt transponder/decoder tunes in to that frequency just like itdoes in FM radio, this could be charged at the same rate as for GPRS data downloads, $0.01 per 2000 frames of color pictures or 60 seconds worth of viewing... ?

First: There are so called satellite telephones already available. Journalists for example use them to communicate in areas where there is no infrastructure at all (dessert,...).

For people like you and me, this phones may not be very usable. The main reason is the big satellite dish you have to carry with you, build up and adjust precisley when you want to receive something. Just look at the roofs around you: Would you like to carry such a dish all the time with you?

I think it would go over better if there was a way to maximize the viewing area, like on a sidekick or MDA with wide screen. Generally people will buy anything they can use on the go.

no... i think people need to be watching the road while driving. not talking, emailing or watching movies while driving.

if its for in the back seat for the kids to watch on long trips -- well it could be a good idea -- but most likely the driver will be watching it instead.

mmm...maybe...when they learn to improve on the battery holding their charge for much longer...(otherwise I would miss the end of the movie and that would really upset me)!!...Happy New Year.
