Wishes and beliefs don't determine truth. Nor are they effective in solving problems like eternal life.
There are plenty of good arguments that suggest that eternal life would be a very bad thing as it would allow tyrants to continue their tyranny virtually forever. Even when genetics allows us to live lives beyond 100 years or more there is the question of what benefit would it serve our society. Would the young work all of their youth to support some ancient segment of society that has lived far beyond any contribution it could make to society? I doubt that would be an intelligent plan.
The problem with eternal life for a person is that it would become a curse for everyone else. People don't think about the consequences of such absurd ideas.
But the "self" attempts to perpetuate itself and most likely will continue to seek eternal life, in whatever monstrous form that might take, whether by dogma or by science.

Two possibilities. First, you are an illusion manufactured by your genes for the purpose of creating a new illusion in which a portion of your genes reside. If you accept this, have children or, better yet, have yourself cloned.
Second, you are information residing in your wetware. Since wetware is non-renewable, have yourself downloaded into computer hardware which can be more easily upgraded and replaced.
I assumed that you were looking for some sort of realistic answer and the above two are the closest to reality. If you were looking for a god related way, good luck. Given all the possible choices, chances are that even if one is right, odds are you (and almost everyone else reading this) will have picked the wrong one and will be condemned to hell. Then again, that's supposed to be eternal too.

It is natural for humans to want to live forever. In Ecclesiastes 3:11 it says that "times indefinite [Jehovah] has put in their heart. Yes God intended for us to live forever on Earth. Even though our first human parents Adam and Eve disobeyed by eating the fruit, thus passing on sin and death to the human race, Jehovah God has not changed his original purpose that we live forever on a paradise Earth._ Romans 5:12; Psalms 37:29
Jehovah God does tell us how we can attain everlasting life. One of the first steps is by taking in accurate knowledge of him through his word the Bible._ John 17:3. From there we would want to act on that knowledge. In addition all those who put their trust in Jehovah God and exercise faith in Jesus and back it up with works, everlasting life is not just a dream._ James 2:6 "To Jehovah the Sovereign Lord belongs the ways out from death."_ Revelation 21:3, 4. Perhaps Witnesses can help you more in this regard. In addition here's some great links such as the one_ Learn About the One True God already listed.

Everyone has eternal life but not everyone one will spend it in the same place. If on this earth you have asked Jesus into your heart to be your Savior and take you away from your sin, then you will spend eternity in heaven with God. If you live in your sin and never ask God to forgive you then you WILL spend eternity in hell. That is a fat and one day you will stand face to face with God and he will ask you what decision you made on earth, to either receive his grace, or deny his love.
If you want more information on being saved and live eternity in heaven then check out this web site: http://www.calvaryftl.org/
The web site has a cool preacher named Pastor Bob and you can listen to him on Wednesday nights, Saturday night, Sunday morning , and at other times too.
And just so you know this answer is not coming from a 40 year old preacher. I'm 13 years old I'm a Christian and I love Jesus.
God Bless you

One way to obtain eternal life is to use a device known as a Goa'uld Sarcophagus. It works by repairing every tissue in your body and prevents aging from occurring. There are some slight imperfections with it in the sense that it is somewhat addicting and will partly replace your immune system, but as long as you own the sarcophagus, that is of no concern. If you get the flu or anything, just use the sarcophagus and you'll be back to your healthy self. =)
The only real problem is finding a Goa'uld Sarcophagus, let alone possessing one...

After the first 100 years its all downhill anyway. Eternal life is only wished by those who aren't making the most of this life. Concentrate on the here and now and you will accept the cycle when it comes. Hopefully it won't come too early by some religious bastard blowing up your building in order to attain eternal life, which they won't get anyway.

Salvation is the forgiveness of sins. It is only accomplished through faith in Jesus as Savior. He died on the cross for sins. If you want salvation, you need to trust in what Jesus did on the cross. Only then can you have eternal life and be with God.
Salvation is saving a person from damnation. Damnation is judgment upon the sinner. This judgment consists of God condemning the sinner to eternal punishment in hell. This is the destination of all who reject God's provision for the forgiveness of sins. If you want salvation, then you need to recognize that you are a sinner and ask Jesus to forgive you. He will.

A Hungerian countess Elizabeth Bathory though she could stay young and live forever by bathing in blood of hundreds of young maidens. This worked for while, until she ran out young maidens under her rule and daughters of other nobles got caught in her web. Eventually she was stopped.
Your first step should be to duplicate her plan and find an unlimited source of young maidens and bathe in their blood. Oh, and don't get caught.

One of the amazing things to me is the ones I would think to be Christitans answering this question still did not give a biblical answer. Nowhere in the Bible does it say to invite Jesus into your heart. Nowhere does it say to know these three verses and agree with them and you will have eternal life. Nowhere in the Bible does it mention to say the "sinners prayer" and you shall be saved. This may sound kinda harsh to some but I make no apologies because I believe Satan has used this to decieve many.
What the Bible does say about eternal life and salvation is this, REPENT.....Without repentance there is no salvation. A prayer said and a life not changed is merely some words to make yourself feel better.
When Peter was asked this exact question in Acts chapter 2 he said repent for the remission of sin. In Acts chapter 3 Peter said repent and be converted that your sins may be blotted out. You have to make the decision to turn from your sin and turn to God through faith in Christ. Jesus said no man can come to the Father except by Me. It is God's grace that saves us but we must be willing to walk away from our sin.
Jesus said in Mark chapter 1 The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent, and believe the gospel.
Never base your salvation by what man says or feelings or dates. You should always base your salvation by what God says. The reason God gave us the Ten Commandments was to be our tutor. Gal 3:24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
Paul said he would not have known covetousness was a sin unless the law said thou shalt not covet. Romans 7:7
So what we have to do is look at the law and see how we line up with God's Holy standard.
Rom 3:20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
So with all that said lets see how good we really are:
1. Have you ever told a lie? Doesn't matter if you call it a white lie or half truth Gods law says do not bear false witness.
2. Have you stolen anything? No matter the size or value taking anything without permission is theft.
3. Jesus said that if we look upon the opposite sex to lust after them we have committed adultry with them already in our hearts. Have you ever lusted?
That's only 3 of the 10 Commandments. How have you done so far? Listen to your conscience. In the book of James he says if we have stumbled on a single command we are guilty of breaking them all.
So on the day of judgment if God were to judge you based on the Ten Commandments would you be innocent or guilty? I think if we are honest we would have to say guilty. Would you then deserve heaven or hell if you are found guilty? Don't say well everyone does these, we don't care about everyone we are talking about you and God's standard, not mans.
Does it conecern you that you would go to hell if found guilty? It did me then I realized through Gods Word that He had sent His Son to die for me, to take my place and take the punishment that I deserved for sinning against God. He died on the cross so that you could go free. He rose from the grave and defeated death. We broke the law but Jesus paid the fine.
The only thing left to do is repent, turn away from your sin, and trust Christ and God will forgive you your sins and grant you everlasting life. Read the Bible and obey what you read, allow it to change you from the inside out. God will never let you down.
