I've often wondered that myself, as I am really super-aware of my own smell when my deodorant has worn off, or in the rare cases where I have forgotten to put it on in the morning.

I think there are some people who are "natural" types who think that body odor is just a regular part of the human body. Also, deodorant and antiperspirant are often made with some pretty harsh ingredients, like aluminum, and some people don't want to "contaminate" their bodies with those ingredients. In these cases, there are several more natural deodorant product on the market that people can use that work just as well...Tom's of Maine is a good example. My husband and I used a crystal deodorant for a while just to experiment. We didn't find that it worked as well as regular deodorant, but still it was much better than nothing!

Also, keep in mind that some people have medical conditions that can cause excess body odor. Still others don't need deodorant because they don't perspire very much (my mother is one such lucky example).

How do you know they are not wearing deodorant? Many people are almost immune to over the counter deodorants and don't realize that they can get help by seeing a doc. or even by simply changing the deodorant they use from time to time. I would gently ask the person if they forgot to put deodorant on today as they seem to have a pretty strong odor and then leave it at that. If they say they used deodorant you can let them know that it isn't working and suggest they try something else or tell them maybe they should ask thier doctor about it since they are having such a severe problem.

well, I know for my husband, we have tried every kind of deodorant and it just doesn't work, but thank God he is not stinky, he naturally just has a mild odor when he sweats.
Also, people like my Dad have an allergic reaction and these lumps form in his armpits when he uses it.
But if you are really curious about a particular person that you think does not use deodorant just trick them into talking about it, say, "oh gosh, I tried this new deodorant and it is causing an allergic reaction, I think I am starting to get a rash, has this ever happened to you?" and they will say, "Oh, I don't use deodorant because I am allergic." and you can say, "I've heard of that, I think you can do something about it if you talk to your doctor.
Or they will say "What is deodorant?" and you'll say "Are you kidding me, you don't know...." so on and so forth and let the conversation take its course.
Or worst case scenario they say "No and walk a way" and then you have to just let it go or just come out and say, "listen your body odor is offensive and it makes some of us uncomfortable to be around you, I'm sure you would want to know this, I am just telling you as a friend."

The smellier the more toxins or at least soluable toxins in the body.

Aluminum chlorhydrate is often a major ingredient which may eventually lead to alzheimers or cancer, and screws up the bioelectrics.

If there were not so many toxins in the air and food and water and you were not sick from a biological invader you probably wouldn't need it at all, regular washing would be sufficient.

It's probably healthier to let the toxins out once in a while and skip a few days once in a while rather than raise the ph with the deodorant to make the toxins insoluable and keep them in you.

Some people and studies believe that ANTIPERSPIRANTS (not deoderants, there is a difference) and their aluminum-based active ingredients may be linked to cancers.

That and some cultures just don't see the point in deodorant, or enjoy the smell.

I personally know of very few people who don't wear deoderant however, I do know there are some cultures who may not practice wearing deoderant or cologne, etc because it was never taught. (just as some folks in the Meditteranian - the females don't shave underarms or legs) If someone offends you however, you have the right to 1) move away from them 2) say something kind to them about their hygiene. As a teacher, I find myself often advising my young ones about their hygiene skills. For some reason - 8th graders all have this problem....smile Good luck.
