The judge isn't going to toss it out because the cop wrote 2006 instead of 2007. You still have notice and know that your court date is on 1/19/07. You can go contest it, but you will only win if the officer doesn't show up, and most jurisdictions have days set aside so that the officers know to be there. It's unlikely.

You didn't say what the ticket was for but...

Is there a box to check plead guilty with an amount to pay?

All but the most serious tickets you can plead guilty to and just pay the fine by the date indicated.

If you're in doubt there is usually a phone number of the ticket that you can call the majistrates office or town hall to get more info.

No, the tickets are number sequenced, they will correct the date when the officer turns in the ticket stubs (copies) to the station.

If you don't show up for your court date on Jan/19/07, they will put a warrant out for you.
Best to go to court and pay the costs.

It's always a possibility it could be dismissed....but maybe not for that specific reason. Best thing would be to go on Jan. 19th (of 2007 to play it safe) and plead your case of "not guilty" in the hopes they will reduce the fine if the officer is there.

FYI: You may request a dismissal if the officer does not show...they (the judge and other officers there) might try to tell you otherwise though so be cautious.

...its been a few years, but I recieved a bogus ticket in a small Kansas town... I showed up on the ticket date... but... turned out they only held traffic court a few times a month... and the date on the ticket was incorrect.. a bench warrant had been issued for 'failure to appear'... I went to the police station... with the ticket and they called the judge... the bench warrant was removed, but... I was told to appear at the next scheduled traffic court day... as for the officer not appearing... that didn't help either... the officer failed to appear... so the judge just ordered me to appear the NEXT month on the scheduled traffic court day... I again appeared... the officer appeared... the result was... the judge decided that 'technically' I was innocent... so he ordered me to pay $10 in court cost and released me... major pain... but... bad date didn't help, no officer didn't help... just show up with a lawyer... never know what might happen if you don't

it is very possible that it could be dismissed but the judge may just site a typo and still fine you usually tickets are dismissed because they wrote the wrong plate # or they misspelled your name. there is a web site that can help answer that question they give you tips on how to get out of the ticket try a google search I can't remember the site name

Not likely because the error was in regards to your court date, not in regards to the nature of the driving offense. I had a ticket where the officer wrote 3:00am instead of 3:00pm. That was dismissed because the officer was not on duty at that time.

You will probably receive a letter correcting the mistake and the only way it's dismissable is if the officer doesn't show for court

if you got the ticket today, like if you were stopped today, they often give you a court date that's a few weeks away. In order to verify that that is the case call the city, and you can give them either the ticket number, and/or your driver licence number and they'll tell you when you need to appear in court.

Make sure you know, because they will arrest you if you dont show up when you're supposed to!

You can either pay for it through the mail or in person, or you can fight it in court....the court date is set in case you do not pay for it, it is routine......In order for it to be dismissed you have to convince a judge that you did not do what the ticket says....You may need a lawyer for this, so it would probably be cheaper to just pay the ticket.......
