Because you let them so they think they are the boss of everything. Try reading a book about your type of dog. What kind of dog do you have? If you start now, your dog may learn that he/she is not the boss. For instance, when you and your dog walk up the stairs, DON'T LET YOUR DOG GO FIRST. This is telling your dog that he/she is the boss. He/she should not think that. Another thing is when you ask your dog to do something (sit, heel, roll over, come, stay etc.) , Only wait a few seconds and if he/she doesn't respond, walk away and try again.
Hope this helps!!!!!!!!!

I have 3 cats and 2 large breed dogs and the one cat rules the house. Both dogs and the other cats know "Auto" is boss because he has established his dominance. Dogs will attempt to establish dominance over the humans if the humans do not put a foot down.

I would need more specific information on how your dogs acts and what behavior your are citing, but here is the long and short of it:
Dogs are pack animals, and the respect something called "pack order". One person/dog can be the boss, and everyone else falls behind him/her. It sound to me like you are having a dominance issue, in that your dog is "the boss" or what we call the "alpha dog". If you could give me a bit more information on your dog's age and what he/she is doing, I could possibly be of more help.
Best Wishes!

So I asked my husband about this ?, we have a pure bread wolf. Who do you think would be the boss. I picked our wolf, my husband said no because dogs will compete between the two of them who is the "alpha male" in our world they realize that we are the ones that feed, water, pet and take care of so we then as humans become that alpha male (or female) over them. That is why they think we are the boss.

well dogs do feel the instinct to guard the house when the owners are not around, so its kinda natural when the owners are not around the dogs will have a run of the house ! some dogs are more evolved and also their owners are more submissive that's why their dogs think they rule the house which they live in !

Dogs will natually vie for the "Alpha" dog position. Unless you teach them that humans are Alpha to them, they WILL become the boss of the house.

Probably because you treat them like the boss. Sometimes, if they're doing something you don't like, you need to discipline them. If this doesn't help, take them to an obedience school.

Because you allow them to.
They're pack animals. They need someone to be the alpha...if you don't fill those shoes your dog will.
