I'm very much like both of my parents in one! My mom is cold and manipulative and I have small traits of that. My dad is funny and smart and I'm like that, too. I don't try to imitate them, it just kinda happens.

I have taken from my family what I feel is right for me. I have moments where I am like both my mother and my father, even my grandparents. But I stand my own ground as well. There are many things I have developed and learned on my own which are different from them. I never intentionally act like them or anyone else for that matter. Although sometimes I intentionally try to not make the same mistakes they did. I feel confident in who I am and I recognize some of me has come from my parents, intentionally or not. It's all good!

Let's see... my dad was an abuser. An alchoholic. Cigarette addicted. Dishonest. Manipulative. Lazy.

Yep. I'm just like him! :-P

Just kidding. I do not drink or smoke. I treat my wife with respect and love. I would never strike her. I am honest. I try not to manipulate anyone. I encourage the people I love. I work hard, and have been very successful in my career. Thank goodness for good teachers and my mom!

But I still curse up a storm when I am driving. In that way, I'm just like the old man. ;-)

There are some genetics involved when you are growing up. Obviously your home environment makes a big difference in how you turn out. BUT... you are still an individual person, and you can make choices and changes in your life. You can be whatever kind of person you want to be with some effort. So home life is a factor... but it makes for a poor excuse later in life.

Unintentionally,I am a lot like them, even in trying to change I realise how similar we are. Not my fault I got the same genes.

in many ways I am, I learn that the older I get the more I turn into them. How you ask? From some of the things I do or say. Some of the gestures or facial expressions I make. Or I would look in the mirror and see my mom!! AH!
