Sounds like to me they slipped you a micky finn dude. Mostly on all new cars they are recommending oil changes every 5,000 miles. Thats only dealer recommended. Stick to the basics and change your oil every 3,000 miles. As far as the dealer is concerned if he changed your oil, he's full of ****. Take it to another jiffy lube or some other ford dealer. Tell them while your waiting you want them to show you the dip stick showing that your oil has been changed. It should be nice and clean. If it is, go back to where they said they service your car and tell them there full of **** twice over and submit the bill to them and asking them to make restituition to a lie. If theydon't then ask to see management or you can file a complaint with a ford rep. Good luck!

Oil could turn black (rather dark brown) after a short time IF the engine is a high miles engine, But if it is a newer engine it shouldn't. Don't know how many K's are on your car, but I would say that they may have short serviced it (toped it off). You might want to consider another service station :( You are right, the few K's you went past the mark wouldn't have made a big difference. For comparison sake, I had a 1988 Cavalier that I bought brand new and faithfully change oil every 3,000 miles after Five years and over 100,000 miles the oil would still be only a dark golden color when I changed it.

You need to change your oil more often. Oil does turn black, it is caused by combustion gases leaking past the rings. When you have the oil changed there is still old oil sticking to the metal surfaces, this is why you change the oil on a hot engine only. The hot oil flows better. The oil on the parts mixes with the new oil and makes it change color. As I said change you oil more often it is pretty cheap insurance and will make the engine last longer. No matter what the manual says, change it every 3000 miles.

Diesels are like that. Due to the high compression there is a lot of blowby and that turns the oil black in short order. That is normal -- and if you were checking the oil level regularly as you should be you would know that.
Going 2.5k over on the change didn't cause it, but that is not a good idea on any engine, especially a diesel.

i dont care if they did or didnt change the oil , you have bigger problems than that. i have a car that is 10 years old and after driving 8 months or 15k oil would still be clean. oil shouldnt be black on a car that new . get opion from shop that specialises in fords, dont let them work on it though ,just ask what they think , oil shouldnt be black in a car that new , if it is, either you have been very hard on car or there is engine damage . take to a different dealer

Motor oil really does turn black after running your engine, even if the oil has just been changed. Same thing happens with the more expensive synthetic oils being used. It's completely normal.

It's true. Oil can turn black that fast. However is it dark black or light black? If it's real dark then go back and have them look at it. A good tech can tell you the difference.

That is normal for a new engine. My ada just got a brand bew carte engine put in his monte carlo, they told him after 1000 miles to change the oil, he told me it was black as black could be and at 1000 miles.... just change it again.... you will be good, check it at least once a month too.

it's normal for a diesel, but if you doubt them, change or have it changed again :)
you should have taken out the breakin oil at 3k, you may have damaged the engine,
Never go over 5k miles between oil changes if you want your engine to last

Man, Id hate to be taking in a vehicle to have them change my oil. Oil in a gasoline 4stroke engine should never be black, its okay for diesels though.
