My beautician separates out the hair to be streaked, adds the light color and wraps it with foil. She then puts the base color through the unwrapped portion on the rest of my hair.

In the salon, we weave, slice, or panel out the area you want highlighted and apply color there first. Then we go back and do your all over color and process both at the same time.

I have my colored and highlighted in the same day every six weeks.

My colorist puts in the foils with the highlights, then colors in between.

Don't color your entire head then highlight over it.

you could do it yourself but you definately want to seperate what you are highlighting and not use both colors on it.
