For the last 2 weeks, my cat keeps getting himself soiled with his own poop after business (which he does religiously in the litter box). What is wrong and how do I rectify this problem?

Is he having diarrhea? This could be a sign that he is eating something he shouldn't be or he could have internal parasites.

Have you changed his food lately or given him a lot of treats? This can cause an upset tummy and give him sticky poo.

Your best bet would be to stop feeding treats and get him on a high quality cat food. You may want to take him in for a vet visit to rule out worms or any internal problems as well. For the time being, see if you can trim the hair in his nether region. That will hopefully stop the poo from sticking while you solve the issue.
Good luck!

My long-haired kitty sometimes gets poop stuck in the back of his legs. He "scrapes" it off himslef by rubing his butt against the litter tray. Someone told me that I can help this problem by cutting short the cat's hair behind his legs. Haven't got around to it yet but I think it will work.

The only time this has really happened with our cats is when they have long hair. We have a long haired cat who ends up getting his poop stuck to his own hair.... he freaks out, runs around the house... it really scares him. What we had to do was take him to the groomer and have his "pants" shaved. They look a little funny, but it's better than having to chase them around the house trying to wipe them off before they sit on the furniture! :)
