My 19 month old son was at he dr last week because he ran a fever for a few days with no other symptoms. She said she couldnt find anything wrong and that was that. Now we are on day 7 of him being "ill" but the only thing happening now is a runny nose off and on and sometimes its thick green, what my real concern is that he has been pale this whole time which is scaring the crap out of me. He has this really pale look and even when he first gets up from 11 hour sleep he has those rings under his eyes and its making me paranoid. Do your kids look pale for a long time when they are sick? And would you call a runny nose sick? Doesnt seem right? thanks

He could be teething. Every kid looks and acts different when they are sick. My mother in law told me that her kids all had a blue mark on their forehead when they were sick which would go away when better. Keep giving him fluid and a little Motrin for fever. Give it a few more days and if you are still uneasy return to the doctor for another look at him. Good luck.

I highly doubt that a thick, green runny nose and a fever are signs of teething. I have been a foster mom to 46 infants and toddlers and have 1 biological child. None of these children experienced these symptoms when cutting teeth. From my experience I would think that he has a sinus infection or some other kind of infection that may or may not require antibiotics. I would definitely take him back to the doctor since it has been a week. That could signal the need for antibiotics. But, just so you know, children can have colds for 3-4 weeks, and antibiotics won't cure a cold. Good luck. I hope your little guy feels better soon. Oh, and the rings under his eyes could be a sign of allergies. My pediatrician refers to that as allergy shiners. You might want to look into that too. Although allergies don't cause fever.

Okay so yea he could be getting those big molars but um if there is green stuff coming out of his nose then that means there is an infection somewhere especially if it is/was accompinied by a fever. Im no doctor but I am a mother of 3 and a medical assistant and in my opinion I think that doctor was just to lazy. I would take your son to another doctor and see if he says the same thing as the first, but to be completly ohnest with u I dont think he will..Paleness and fever with a green runny nose isnt "nothing"..Take him to another..and another ..and another if you have to dont rest untill you are comfortable with the answer..so what if you have to sit in waiting rooms and keep explaining the stuff over and over again....at least then youll finally be comfortable and not worrying anymore and then your son will start feeling better
I hope that helps good luck

Babies and toddlers sometimes have "febrile illnesses of unknown origins" with no other symptoms other than the fever. Sometimes their bones are growing, and they will run fever, teething will cause fever and runny noses, allergies can cause fevers. My four year old sometimes does this for several days or even up to several weeks for no apparent reason. Make sure your son is getting a good dose of daily vitamins, (the Gummy Bear Vitamins are great,) plenty of Pedaled (the generic is the same stuff) and watch his food intake and his output. Give him some baby Tylenol or Ibuprofen to help with the discomfort the fever may give him, and just love on him. It will pass. Unless the fever stays at about 104-105 for several days, he should be fine. Fever for kids at 102-103 isn't considered high for toddlers unless they become dehydrated. It sounds like your son may be in need of electrolytes, Pedaled will fix that. Good luck with your tot.

okay green runny nose and fever mean infection, take him back to the doctor and if he still does nothing for you or your son take him to an other doctor, also clean his nose about every 3 hours with slaine drops and sucker, use vicks on his chest and feet so he can breatehe better, or try when he goes to sleep to put him in the bathroom with the shower runny hot water so he can breate the steam and clear up his nose, also make sure you give him a lot of liquid so he dont dehydrat. him being pale in the face is fine as long as he dont turn blue or purple, then call 911

If the fever is low-grade coupled with the runny nose my first thought is teeth coming in maybe late 1st years or early 2nd years.
Or another strong poss. is allergies. Alot of babies have allergies that are not as severe as wheezing etc. The circles under the eyes give me that impression. Try asking the doctor about that possibility and if you're not satisfied try another doctor. Remember, you pay the doctor to work for you.

Hope it all works out, I know it's scary when we as Mommy can't fix it.

It's difficult to say what's normal or not - but pale with dark rings under eyes can be a sign of iron deficiency (common after illness). Feed him high iron foods such as green leafy veg, red meats, pulses, and feed him things high in vit C to help absorb the iron such as orange juice or blueberries. This might help. A runny nose isn't necessarily 'sick', but continuous snuffles does make you feel run down, lethargic, and more easily prone to catch other bugs - so it's not good either! Keep him warm and snug, but ensure a good dose of fresh air every day - it really does help make you feel better.

Good luck

Green snot is a sign of infection. Could be a sinus infection which will usually need an antibiotic to clear up. Take him back to the doctor. He might not have had enough symptoms last time for a proper diagnosis. If you still aren't satisfied, go to the ER or medical clinic for a 2nd opinion

Anything Green comming from the nose means infection! Go back to the doctor. Any fever means there body is fighting something. Go back to the doctor before it gets worse.
