I managed to hook up the Laptop to the DVD player and am able to watch shows/movies from my laptop to the TV. The question though is I bought a S-Video cable that only has 4 pins on either end. The 4 pin fits to the 7 pin connector but it's loose. Should I return it and look for a S-Video cable that has 1 end 4 pin and the other 7 pin. Or do those cables not exist?

S-Video is only supposed to have 4 pins. I'm not sure what the 7 pin connector is that you are seeing. It could be for something other than video (like power, maybe?), or it may be for a special device. If it is definitely S-Video, then it is possible that the manufacturer was trying to integrate sound into the S-Video with the extra pins. That's outside of the standard, though, so chances are good you are not going to find a cable for that in any commercial search. If that is the case, you should go back to the manufacturer of either the laptop or the video card and ask them what to do. They may sell the cables you need themselves, or they may have some sort of adapter.

I've attached links to L-com.com's S-Video Resources.

hi. The S-video is, because of the fact the call implies, a video cable in straightforward terms. each and every HD connection I even have seen in use makes use of area of ingredient cables. in case you get the S-video to ingredient the photograph will in all probability be degraded yet may well be particularly proper. YMMV.
