I've read Russian for dummies and have the basic grammatical no how i'm just looking for something to help build up my vocabulary

A good web site to help improve your vocabulary is http://www.languageguide.org/russian/
It has all sorts of groups ranging from colors to music to body parts, and gives your the pronunciation in russian.

If you are interested in conversational Russian that would improve your vocabulary, you may be interested in contacting the Russian community in your area. A search for A Russian Orthodox Church in your area may provide someone with good command of the language to help you. At the University level you may find Russian offered as a foreign language, this may also help, improve your vocabulary.
