Religion is just a lie about God that separates us and makes us see others as being different from us.

None if this is true. We are all one, each a part of the same God.

I think you can live without religion, but I think that you will be deprived of a joy that you could not know without a relationship with the Almighty God and His Son Jesus the Christ.

I think that you can live without God or Jesus, and maybe be happy on this earth that way. However, there is another life and I am not sure you would like how that played out if you reject God and Jesus.

Am I faithful to Jesus because I need the fire insurance?
No!
I am faithful to Jesus because I experienced a change in my life when I accepted Jesus.
I live with a calm that I did not have before.

Why am I always preaching Jesus?
It is because I want for others the calm in their lives that I have received in mine.

If only the stupid believe in God and His Son, then I would like to know why so many people that accept God and His Son receive a new nature.

It's a rare person that doesn't believe in SOMETHING religiously, even if that isn't what would commonly qualify as a religion. "Family" is one possibility, which leads to warmth, support and cohesiveness, as well as blood feuds and "honour killings".
Material acquisiton is another candidate, with the consequences we can see around us. "He who dies with the most toys wins" is not ironical for all individuals at all.

"Doubt everything, question, consider the alternative..."
That is a way to handle life, but it requires a lot more effort than just assuming a good, an objective, or just picking up the values of the culture you find around you.

So no, most people have required a religion, even if that's only "the importance of shopping to be fashionable".or "not looking different from my mates."

I remember hearing that there were a couple things humans had to do to get world peace and one of them was to get rid of religion. Im sure if the bible was never released there would still be fighting though, just look at high school, humans will find a reason to kill each other.

Religion we can do without. Sages say we all have the divine spark within us before we enter this world. It is our responsibility to find the Divine light and to return to our Creator. It is within us all,if we will only allow ourselves to be open to the Light. Do you know what every culture in this world has in common? Songs & dances. Joy. Think about it,I believe it is an inhernt way to worship God. There will be no Peace till the Prince of Peace returns.

It is possible to believe in something without it becoming a religion. The world would be a better place if we all believed in something, if only the goodness of the common man, but dispensed with the religion.

in response to the answer from earl d ("People kill for a wide variety of reasons. Most religious people will tell you it's not religious to kill. Since a majority say this, we must assume those doing the killings are not religious.")-

history has proven time and time again that religion equals war and fighting. not all fighting and killing is on a religious basis, but most religions in the past and today have killed and fought, are killing and fighting, or will kill and fight all for the name of their 'god'.

we all know the saying about ASSuming, right?

anyway, to respond to the original question, i agree with you. this is not to say there is no place for individual spirituality, but RELIGION is the downfall of man.

I believe that if every country were multi cultural, there would be no wars over either, land or religion...It would stand to reason that if every country were the same, why would anyone bother..
( I also believe we should be able to live in any country we wish)..
I guess this will never happen in my lifetime, it is too big an..Ideal World..for the nations Governments..what do you think?...

Christianity is not a religion. It is a belief and total commitment to Jesus Christ. I use to belong to the Baptist religion but I have not gone to church in over 30 years. I am still a Christian. i am not perfect. I still sin. I still have some hate. I do not get great urges to go kill people because they are not Christians. I DO NOT get great urges to tell people, they are going to hell.

We could do a whole lot better without religion.
It wouldn't fix everything, but at least it'd be one less difference for people to kill each other over. One less force oppressing science and education.

People saying that we'd kill each other over something else obviously haven't really thought about this. That's like saying that it was okay for Hitler to kill millions of Jews because if he hadn't they'd have died of something else anyway.
