Religious beliefs are conditioned responses so obviously the people you saw responding that way were well conditioned. Seems to me many people want to believe there is a heaven or nirvana and that comes from a long standing fear humans have of death. It is that same fear of death that religions around the world have preyed upon for centuries. But even if you get 7 out of 10 people to claim they BELIEVE in a heaven of some form, that doesn't make it a fact. It is still only a belief.

There is more than one reason why we are here on earth, it's to prepare us for heaven, to learn many things through experiences. Heaven is a positive place, and someday you'll see, feel, know why we have negative here on earth, there is learning, positive learning that comes out of negative on earth. We are here to learn, to experiment, to make mistakes.
In the spirit world they don't see sin as we do here. All experiences can be positive. All are learning experiences.

In the Our Father prayer, we pray, "Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven." Jesus often spoke about His kingdom. The kingdom is where ever God is. It is here, now in our lives when we open ourselves to it. We experience heaven now, at times, and will experience heaven forever if we allow ourselves to be open to the experience of God.
