I have a 1991 Buick Regal with the stock radio and amp. The problem I have is this; when the radio is on, but volume down I can hear this low humming noise, and every once and while I get some popping noise in the speakers. I traced the lines from the radio into the amp and the wires seems intact. So, I went out and bought a used amp (same as what was in my car) and I still get the low humming noise, but not so much popping noise. Anybody know why I am getting the humming and popping and how I can fix it?

Connections connections connections. Check ALL connections to the radio to make sure that they're tight. This includes the entenna and ground wires. Also check to be sure that you have resistor plugs in the motor and that the engine block ground is intact and secure as well. If none of this works it's the radio itself. Toss it and put in another one.

I had the SAME problem. U turn on teh radio..the more u accelerate..the more u hear it. Its a whining sound right? It's ur ground wires. Start from your radio..your headunit. From there.tract the the black wire n make sure that it's mounted and grounded correctly.

I HATE that sound, i lived with that sound for over a year until i fixed it.

Better speaker wires and check your ground wire!
