Christianity:
~Aligning yourself with God.
~It's admitting that you have sinned and that your sin is really offensive to God. (Palsms 53:3)
~It's confessing your sins to God. Even though He already knows them, He wants you to confess them - to come to grips with them. (1 John 1:9)
~It's following Him - getting to know Him, reading His Word and doing your best to serve Him and follow Him daily.
(Romans 12:1-2)
~Being a follower of Christ.

Well a Christian is Christ like. Notice they were only called christians by others who must have saw a difference in them. Many call themselves christian. I tell others I am saved, born again. No we will not be perfect upon this earth and neither was Peter, Paul, and many of the people in the bible. One must strive each day to be more like Christ and less like the world. When we do fail because we are in the flesh we pick up and keep going and repent and ask God help for that sin that makes us stumble.

The passage was - in the world, not of it. Being a part and connected to the world is still needed - that is what Jesus did.
Repenting also means understanding. If you understood why something was wrong - you wouldn't do it anymore. So unless you are repenting different sins each time - you are trying to repent without understanding. That gets you no where. When you understand - you will no longer give in to sin (controlling the flesh won't do it. Remember the lusting after story when lusting after [thought] and adultery [action/flesh] where the same wrongness).

Well now! You think that you can control your sin? If not now, then someday?
Okay, I think that you are serious, and also seem to be genuine in your vocation. So let me bring to you a few things about what a Christian is. Check it out, this is what I am getting from the Bible, although it is paraphrased.
The Bible says that the Just shall live by faith. So, we can say tht there are two kinds of people on the Earth, the Just and the Unjust. Some live by faith, and some do not.
What is faith? Simply put; Trust.
So if someone puts their trust in God, they shall be considered just. That is; according to the Bible that I read.
So then our focus is what? Is it sin? I don't think so. As you have reported, there is a up to now continual ability in being sinful. So, at least so far, there is no end to sin.
Yet Christ died for some reason. I think that it was to wash away sin. So have all the true believers in all history been able to focus on sin and rid themselves of it?
No.
So I am saying that it's all about faith. And I DID say that it was easily understood as trust. So trust in what? Our ability to not sin someday? Well, God will 'wash our robes' and the Bible does say, 'Blessed are those that have washed their robes.' So then, how to wash our robes?
By trusting God for His promise that Jesus died for the sins of the world.
Where did He say that?
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
That was God's servant, the Word of God, that said that.
So I am a follower of Christ too. And as Hebrews 12 says, I am to look to the Rock of my Salvation, He is my focus. Sinlessness is NOt obtainable by me. But through Him, I am considered by God as having 'washed my robes.'

A true Christian is someone who has recognized himself a sinner needing a Savior. One that felt the presence of God, and confessed Jesus Christ Lord and Savior, with belief in his heart that Jesus shed His own blood to atone for ones sins and raised up from the dead for ones justification.
Then the person is born again, reborn spiritually. Not by the will of anyone except God. That what Jesus did to atone for sins was sufficient for the gift of ever lasting life. Once a child of God, person can't abide in sin (make it a comfortable habit) because of the Holy Seed within. Christian inherits Christ Kingdom. Jesus can never say to a Child of God, "Depart from me, I never knew you, worker of iniquity.". God gives each born of God Christian the Holy Spirit of Truth, seal for the day of redemption. This is the anointing that leads into all truth and isn't a liar.
If you haven't confessed Jesus Christ Lord unto God the Father, then you haven't been born of God yet. When you humble yourself before God and confess Jesus Christ your Lord and believe in you heart (God looks at your heart) in the resurrection, you will be saved (everlasting life).
Who is he who overcomes? He who is born of God. What is our victory? Our faith.

Got it wrong right at the start.
NO one out does a TRUE Christian. NO ONE.
A true Christian does things for no rewards, because Jesus said they have to do these things.
Jesus said when you are ASKED to carry a pack for 5 miles, carry it for 10 miles!
THAT is a CHRISTIAN.
A Christian does more than expected. They do two, three, four, five times the work of a non-Christian.
A Christian does with a smile and expects no reward, not even a thank you.
Being a TRUE Christian is NOT easy. It's a lot of work for nothing in return. The rewards come in doing. You do because Jesus told you to do.
Slackers will find themselves in a peck of trouble with God.
Taking on religion and especially following Jesus takes on a lot of work and a lot of responsiblity. To do otherwise is to take the Lord's name in vain.
If one wants to see good Christian work ethics. Look at the Mexican immigrants who work all the time as housekeepers, gardeners, etc. No one out does them. And they all go to Church on "Holy Days."

Just my opinion. But i think if anyone has to completly resist sin to be a christian. Than nobody will ever make it to be a christian. I thought a christian was anyone who believed in God no matter what religion. If we have to become sin free, it's impossible. Nobody can do that. Anyways, everyone has their own thoughts on this. These are just mine. Your belief is your belief and i respect that.

A Christian is simply one who has accepted the free gift of salvation through Christ Jesus. Although you are on the right path, your works will do nothing to save you. Jesus did all the work on the cross - to add or subtract from that work lessens the gift of salvation and the work of Christ Jesus. It is by faith, through grace, you are saved, not of works, lest any should boast. He did it all. Once you are saved, you are a Christian, it's as simple as that.
Of course we will never be perfect as human beings - we are flawed - it is a journey and we grow and learn as we walk in faith with Him. I commend your desire to become more Christ-like - but even the Apostles were not perfect. Paul struggled with his faith - "I do the things I do not want to do and I don't do the things I want to do". Peter was arrogant and stubborn. Jesus accepted them, flaws and all, just like He accepts us, flaws and all. He takes us as we are, but loves us enough not to leave us that way.
A Christian is one who follows Christ.

Oh my... an honest person! I have to shake your hands for being honest. You mentioned that you have to pray on a regular basis that means you already acknowledge God's office! Good for you. I pray too but I need to pray more than what I do. My issue is building up my faith but i'm working on it. It is a process, no one is perfect but if you stay on that path, you and I both will do just fine. Praise the Lord.

a christian is someone who follows the word of god. eg the bible, and strives to uphold it every day of their lives. if ones heart is true, god will forgive you your sins as we are tempted constantly by sins of the flesh (satan). if one stands true untill the day of jesus' return, he will know this.
