Yes you can, but you shall obviously have the home edition running later. Also you have to boot the comp from the cd and then format it. Cant use the autoplay option to reinstall once the comp is already booted and running.
Enjoy.

What are you trying to do, reformat the hard drive? If so, you can probably reformat with the Windows XP Home, if it's legal. If it isn't, forget it. But why do you need to do this? The two operating systems are much alike, except Pro has a few more things it in than Home.

You should be able to, just boot from the CD and enter Windows setup. When you get to the installation screen where you choose the drive to install on, delete the existing windows partition and select the empty space to install over, make sure to choose to format the partition.

You can format inside of windows, unless its the boot partition you are trying to format.. Other then that, if you use the XP home CD to format your gonna have to load XP home on the machine..

I'm sorry, are you looking to restore your computer with it?

Then no, you need the restore disk. The good part is that if you don't have it...Make a stop to your local Best Buy, tell them what kind of computer it is and they should be able to burn a disk for you.

You could, but then you'd have Home Edition (yuck!) instead of Pro. You'd need the installation key for the Home Edition as well, the Pro key won't work.
