A cord of wood is 4' by 4' by 8'. (128 cubic feet) You are asking about 2 cords. It all depends upon the size of the split logs- it could be any number of pieces. If re-stacked tighter, the pile might not even come out to the same measurement as the first time, but if you're buying the wood from a dealer, the first stack of his is legally considered a cord. A restacked cord can gain or lose 10% each time it's stacked. Also beware of the "face cord" which is a stack the width of the split logs, that is 4 feet high and 8 feet long. This is not a cord at all, and likely a third of a cord or so.

This depends on how thick the wood is. If each peice is 6 inches wide and a foot long, you would have 1024 pieces of wood.

I'm not a mathematician, sorry! According to "Webster's New Edition Large Print Dictionary", a "cord" is "A measure of firewood equal to 128 cubic feet."
