Try some velcro rollers or hot rollers. They work the best. Then curl with a iron and bend over and spray the underside of your hair too not just the top.
Good luck and happy new year!

I'm a newly qualified stylist so thought i'd help you with this 1.

Firstly, for glossy, soft curls you need to have glossy, soft hair to begin with, so wash your hair and condition with a rich conditioner (but also quite light) or maybe an intensive treatment if you feel your hair is a little dry/damaged. A good brand to use is Aussie/John Frieda.

Then you need some large velcro rollers and some strong mousse, or if your hair is very flyaway and doesn't hold styles long, then setting lotion is great for long lasting curls! As you said your hair was frizzy, you can use a little serum on the ends to add shine and smooth the cuticle.

Then use very small sections and smoothly wind the roller from tip-to-root (or root-to-tip for lots of volume) then secure as firmly as possible. if you have a curl-spray (EG loreal hot-curl) then give each section a spritz when finished, before you dry as it's heat activated.

Lastly, dry the hair thoroughly pointing the hairdryer DOWN the cuticle to smooth the hair. It needs to be bone dry, and the wetter you dry your hair from, the stronger the style will be and the longer it will last.

You can then use hairspray before you take the rolllers out/or after, and the best thing to adds gloss to curls without weighing it down is shine spray (believe it or not, Asda's version is great and not too heavy)......

.......which should leave you with lustrous, shiny curls with lots of hold!

Good Luck :-)

What you need are some good old fashioned heated rollers!! The bigger the roller, the looser the curls. I'm pretty sure I've seen sets of heated rollers in Argos. Wrap sections of dry hair around the heated roller and secure in place. The longer you leave them, the more defined the curl. However, for a cheaper option you can buy ordinary rollers that aren't heated in packs from boots. Rough dry your hair with a hair dryer but leave it partially damp. then take sections of hair and wrap around the roller and secure in place. Then finish drying your hair completely with the hair dryer. To stop the frizz you mention, try some John Freida Frizz Ease hair serum again available in boots. Apply this lightly through the hair prior to blow drying and its gets rid of frizz. Hope this helps.

This is a great way to achieve this look, take a small section of hair and put the hair at the roots in the curling iron, then wrap the rest of the hair around the barrel and hold it there(try not to burn yourself), this will make big clumpy curls, you will love it.

Tip your head upside down when you blow dry it. Don't do anything after you blow dry it until the hair has cooled. You can then either tip your head upside down again and lightly spray the undersides for lift, or you can hold up a section with a hair pick, spray it then with the blow dryer on the low setting dry it in place.

do you have access to rollers? they usually give me great waves and if you spritz them with hair spray or some sort of srprayable hair stuff they usually stay all day.
if you can, spend some dosh on heated rollers as they work best, but if not, velcro rollers in wet hair and then blow dried with a hair dryer work for me.
good luck and a happy new year! :)

i prefer bendy rollers on wet hair then if you can(!) sleep in them, shake your hair after removing them. usually works for me!
