Throw it away. Don't keep it and let it take up space. Don't waste your time donating it to goodwill. They'll just throw it out.

First of all do not donate it. People may be poor, but they don't want broken crap.. Second of all, if its broken, ask for the giver for the receipt telling them that its not keeping proper time. When you go to return it, buy something else and just explain to the giver that it must of been a screw up in production because when you looked at the other ones none were keeping time properly. Tell them for every second it clicked 4 seconds.. Instead buy another clock.. tell them you liked the gift and were sorry to see that it malfunctioned.. That will not hurt any ones feelings, I am sure they did not watch the clock perfectly to make sure it was keeping perfect time..

Stop the cycle of bad gift giving and do not regift it. Thank the person for thinking of you and wish them a happy holiday as well.
I agree with the others who suggest you donate it to a thrift shop. That way the gift will do good for someone - somehow. If you wait to put it in your next garage sale the person who gave it to you is liable to see it there - oops! If you regift it you're possibly causing discomfort to someone else and you'll also need to find a storage space for it until you do.
Why not take a digital photo of it that you file under, "Thanks but no thanks" and then drop it off (gently) at your neighbourhood charity shop?

Depends on if the giver will ever see it again. If they won't and it's really tacky, then toss it. If they will, then find someplace honorable to place it, like the bathroom. If they question the location, tell them that you needed a time keeping device in the john, that their gift was the perfect one. Just be sure to reset it before they arrive.

LOL, my inlaws bought me tea-towels! I know what you mean!! What you do is this...... Put them in a box with the christmas ornaments, and make sure you write the name on them of who gave the gifts to you. Then use them next year to give to someone else. But, make sure, you dont give them to a person who knew the original gift giver. Take them to work for secret santa, kids teachers, someone like that. BUT make sure you write the name of the gift giver on it. And, keep them with the Christmas decorations, so that when it is time to pull out the enormous box of junk next year, they will be in there to remind you!!
Otherwise, wait a month or so, and EBAY!!!

Re gift them. This whole gift exchange is complete nonsense. People are co-horsed into buying gifts and spending their hard earned money on things no one would buy for themselves in the first place. I want Christmas canceled.

Hide it, deep.
Don't give it to a charity shop or the people who gave it in the first place will buy it and give it to you to make a pair.

You know, if you just give more info, I may be able to help you with my answer.
What is it? A vase? A statuette? A towel? A picture? Scissors? Photo frame?
You tell me, and I'll think. ;)

Take it to a thrift store ran by a charity so they can sell it and use the money to help people.
