If I dated someone like me, we'd both be dead in a month. You need complimentary personalities, not matching personalities. My bf is about as headstrong as I am and it leads to some nasty-*** fights sometimes (though less than before). I think my temper wouldn't flare so much if my bf were more naturally mellow, too. Or if I were more mellow I wouldn't set him off as much.

there's a need for both: Similarities as well as Differences
enjoy SIMILAR things that interest you both
learn DIFFERENT things from each other
both of these are necessary to strengthen a relationship

Having things in common is always good everyone needs that it makes you feel 'at home' differences allow you to 'explore' - and it definitely keep things interesting.

it just depend on individual. when u make an effort to make your relationship stronger it will work even if the two people are not similar.

your total opposite is the one who'll last longer than someone who is the exact same as you. it would get boring after a while if you and your lover are the same types of person because theres no excitement, no fights to keeo the relationship hot and moving.

i like opposties! but, it cant be too different...sharing values is importaint. SHaring clothing style, not so importaint! Find someone truely different and see what happens!
