Benjamin Franklin said it best himself in his epithet

“The Body of Benjamin Franklin, Printer (like the cover of an old book, its contents torn out, and stript of its lettering and gilding,) lies food for worms. Yet the work itself shall not be lost, for it will appear once more, in a new and more beautiful edition, corrected and amended by the Author.”

I do not fear death,I've walked thru the shadow of the valley of death, I was never alone but I had to walk through it. I think that those who don't believe in Christ have a fear of the unknown. They fear the manner in which they'll die and the not being with loved ones again. But, we have that assurance of Life after death.. our soul returns to be with God. Jesus, said I go to prepare a place for you, In my Father's house are many mansions, if it were not so, I would have told you. To me death is a homecoming & I want my friends & family to rejoice my life & my homecoming. It is such a little while here, compared to eternity. Christians should not grieve like those who have no hope. Grieve yes, but with the knowledge that we will see one another again. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. How sad for those without that hope. I can only imagine the fear they face of the unknown. They only know what they see here on Earth,& will not allow themselves to believe in what can only be seen with their heart.

some people fear death because the thought of no longer existing is unfamiliar and scary to many. i'm pretty sure 'some' find it hard to believe death is simply a transition to another life because not having experienced it, it's a little hard to believe. who died and came back to tell you about their new life after death? i want to meet them!

I don't fear death. Some people do because they see it as mysterious and unknown, which scares some people.

I find it hard to believe it's a transition to another life because everything that made you alive ceases to function after you die. The idea that you'll have another life after death is illogical.

We live in a physical world, and our human limitations make it so that we equate life with a physical existence as well as a spiritual one.

So, our bodies will resist physical death as a natural process. Emotionally, that translates into fear.

Spiritually, of course, we should not fear death -- but it's nearly impossible for humans to consciously separate spiritual life from physical life.

One day, though, we'll realize that there was nothing to fear.

People fear death because they have hope for their lives here on earth, and nobody wants to give up hope. But when people get really old and hope fades they don't fear death anymore.

I don't believe there is life after death because there is no proof for it.

To be honest, I don't fear death. But the thought of MY body becoming food for something else is a little.. unsettling. Also, losing the ability to think and therefor to be is something I try to avoid everyday, why would I desire it after say, 70 years?

Btw, can you guess? I don't share your belief of "another life".

People fear the unknown.

If they remembered dying a few times, it would not be a problem.

It's about acceptance, and even if you don't accept it, we all have a date. We've only known life, so there's no reference point. Death generally means loss of loved ones, friends, family- not seeing them physically anymore.
