I'd like to suggest that you throw Celebrity into that mix. They are rated higher than both Holland America and Princess.
Last year my wife and I took the Mercury on the 11-night Mexican Caribbean cruise and it was first-class in all aspects.
Celebrity Mercury is rated as one of the top 10 large ships by Conde Nast! Celebrity also took the top three spots in the Best Crew/Best Service category; it won all four Best Food/Best Dining categories; and took the top award for Best Cabins.
Yes, Celebrity may be a few dollars more, but remember - there is a big difference between cost and VALUE!
My advice is to talk to a good travel agent - one who specializes in cruising, and ask them to provide you a quote for the Mercury. She does 7, 8, 9, 10, & 11-night cruises from San Diego.
I'm ure you'll be more than pleased.
I hope this information is helpful. Bon Voyage!

I highly suggest that you throw Royal Caribbean and Celebrity onto that mix the Celebrity Mercury is a highly rated ship along wiht the entire Celebrity fleet of ships and they have a few knew ones coming out like the Journey and the Solstice and all the ships have Galactic and Space names. Anyhow, Holland American to me seems like it is more of an older croud and everything and Princess seems a little higher class like a little fancier and upscale. Royal Caribbean is like Celebrity there are tons of things to do and its perfect for all ages. So I would deffinately recommend Celebrity or Royal Caribbean. Celebrity offers a good Mexican Rivera cruise, 7 day, 10 day, 11 day, for this year, and I think they would be highly recommended.

This is depend on you and the itinerary. Holland America has excellent food and service. The class of people are a little older..average age 62. Princess is for a younger crowd, but my personal experience with food, drinks, and service on Princess is good.
