I have 3 sets of straighteners ones with small ceramics plates, one with wide plates and one normal - less than £10 a pair. I have never mastered the fringe though.

first of all, you need a thin narrow iron, not a wide one. secondly, as you put the iron at the root of the fringe, curl it inwards as you bring it down the hair... this way it wont stick out.. remember - use heat protection ... good luck!

I have the exact same problem so i blow dry my fringe first using one of those round brushes PROPERLY which takes about 2 minutes literally then run over it with my straighteners. Trust me it does make a difference bcause when I tried using just hair straighteners on my fringe it stuck out at the bottom and looked really dry.

i use a wide flat iron. what i do i towel dry my hair for 10 mins, then brush, put in some straighting gel not to much though, then blow dry, wait about 5 to 10 mins after blow drying then i part my hair right down the middle in the back, then tie one side with a hair tie and on the other side i start from the back take some hair(not to much hair at once though) and brush the section that i have chosen the straighten and work my way forward, then do the same to the other side. this will work. i have really wavy and curly hair and this is what works for me.

The type of straightener matters - a ceramic chi iron works very well and the type of product that you use before you straighten your hair. you should use a gel/mouse/lotion before you straighten your hair to protect it from heat and to hold the style (so you don't have to apply as much heat).

also, the after product matter too. use a texturizing paste that will keep your hair looking shiny and together.

Try a hair silk product on your hair first. It will really help. Also, only use a ceramic flat iron. It really makes a difference. The best one is a CHI brand.

I have kinky hair also. To be honest although you can straighten with straighteners I usually just wet my fringe and brush it straight then it will dry straight
