Who said that it was. That's just the kind of terminology people use when they are being bigots.

No, it was not. Not everything that people who call themselves Christians do is right, or even follows the true meaning of Christianity.
Why, just the other day, I saw one Christian lie to another Christian. I don't think that was righteous either.
I assume that your question is leading down the road of moral equivalency....if this religion did these things, how good can it be? In my opinion, that is an error in logic. Just as we, in this age, should not assign the pure evil that terrorists are achieving across the entire faith of Islam, we should not assign the pure evil espoused by so-called "Christians" centuries ago to the personal faith of Christianity today.

No. Absolutely not. But, not all "Christians" are Christians. My point: being a nominal Christian, one in name only, makes one no different than anyone else in the world.
A true Christian is one who has been born again, according to Jesus in John 3:1-5. A born-again Christian is a new creation with the old stuff passing away, and new life, new aims, new attitudes and even new goals being established (2 Corinthians 5:17).
One can be a nominal Christian of any stripe (denomination). Jesus even warned His disciples of false teachers and of hate amongst His so-called followers.
True Christianity does not conquer by the sword or by hate. Our sword is the Word of God, and our strength comes from the Spirit of God. We do not force Christianity on anyone, nor do we hate those who reject our message.

The standard response "those weren't *real* Christians." Maybe not, but they were products of the Christian culture! It could very easily happen again to Muslims. All the righteous of the nations must speak out against atrocities such as those being committed right now in Darfur. http://savedarfur.org/content
NEVER AGAIN! Not on our watch!

In case you haven't noticed, it's 2006 almost 2007, not 1305! Try coming into the modern age and stop harping on the past which none of us can change or where a part of.

They are not very proud of it. While on the Vatican tour, repeated requests to "show us where you tortured and killed Jews and Atheists during the Inquisition." just got you escorted out of The Vatican and warned not to come back.

I've never met a Christian who was proud of that part of Christian history...but it was just that...history. Some groups learn from their mistakes...others don't.

Ansolutely not; and they were judged harshly by God for their hatred, jealousy, and theft.
As far as I am concerned; they were the first terrorists.
