It does sound like you have the flu. A cold does not leave you with a fever or aches and pains. The flu cannot be cured, although you can get medicines that help relieve the symptoms.
Despite the answers above, viruses do NOT respond to antibiotics. Only bacterial infections respond to antibiotics.
Get lots of sleep, drink lots of fluids (chicken soup is always good!). Take flu medicines to reduce the fever and help you sleep. If the fever persists, then you might want to see a doctor to make sure it's nothing else.

Oh hon I had that same thing a few weeks back...I thought I was dying! I had no fever though. I hope you don't have anything more serious than a virus.
Take some Tylenol but remember the fever is also killing the infection so take it only if you really need it and let the fever run a bit if you can tolerate it. Take Tylenol maybe twice daily.
Here is what will help you that helped me.
Make a cold compress and a warm (NOT HOT) one, and alternate between the two on your face/neck..whereever your glands are swollen. That is what helped me. Do it off and on during the day for about a good half hour...at least 2-3 times a day and you will feel better. The cold will lesson the swelling and the warm increase blood flow and hopefully your glands will empty out.
Mine were excruciatingly painful but the compresses helped.
Hope you feel better soon!

The people who say you need antibiotics are wrong. Antibiotics won't do a thing for a virus. Like other posters said, take lots of fluids, you don't want to to get dehydrated. The best thing you can do is rest. If you've already been to the doctor, you've got that covered. Sounds like the bumps you describe are swollen glands, not uncommon when you're sick. So, bundle up, get some sleep, and watch a lot of tv.

Your immune system is low. If your body is strong and healthy you will not get virus', flu, cancer... list goes on and on...
What you need to do is eat lots of raw food... i.e. fruit, nuts, carrots etc. Drink lot's of spring water to help release the toxins in your body. Dose yourself with Vitamin C, don't just buy any vitamin c supplement... try and get natural as possible. The body only digests around 10% of the 'common' vitamin tablets you find in pharmacies. I use a powdered form of Vitamin C when doing a lot of exercise, in your case it should give you the 'runs' (visiting toilet...), then you know the vitamin C is working!
Try eating Avo's as well. They are high in essential fatty acids (not the fats that make you fat as so many people think).

!01 fever and in bed covered, isn't that high. the bumps are your glands and there usually swollen in teens as they mature unless they're really huge.
You probably have a touch of the flu or getting a cold, don't worry, you'll live.

Feeling exactly the same way here. Drink lots of fluids/juice. If you have a virus you need an antibotic. If it is a cold, only aspirin, rest and fluids will work.
Good luck and get well soon.
