Don't go cold turkey, worse thing you can do. You will get even more cravings, and will have one mad sugar rush.
Best thing to do is, lower you intake of chocolate each day, like a normal size galaxy, eat one, then just eat 4 of the little bars, and so on and so forth...once you are down to one...try going without chocolate for one day, have a little bit the next, and slowly but gradually reduce your intake to once a week. There are other things which can take your sweet tooth away, like low calorie hot chocolate, strawberries, weight watchers chocolate cake bars. etc etc

It may be that the caffeine and sugar in the chocolate are satisfying your brain's need for blood sugar, which may be excessive due to a condition that results from hyperinsulinemia. This condition is called hypoglycemia. www.hufa.org has some basic information about this condition.
Once I got on a low sugar/low glycemic carb diet, my cravings declined. However, it has not been until I went on meds for a yeast condition (that can occur more easily if one is hyperinsulinemic) that the cravings have totally ceased. Seriously! Me passing up fudge and cookies at Christmas? Unheard of. Losing a pound during the Christmas Holiday? Impossible. Check out the yeast link at www.hufa.org too.

You Can Do It!
It just takes willpower and determination. Drinking a glass of water helped me with putting down chips, now I drink water all day long. If you have to substitute one addiction for another, try running or biking, something healthy!
Good Luck!

If you have the craving for Chocolate(or anything for that matter)try sucking on a strong mint, eating some toothpaste or rinsing you mouth with mouthwash. Most foods taste horrible after that.

The first answer, by Claudia, is right. My best friend is a chocolate addict, and she recently went cold turkey. After about three weeks, she realised she no longer felt any desire or need to eat it any more, and she hasn't since.

Don't fight your chocolate addiction. It just makes you want it more. Alott a certain amount of chocolate per week, per day or per month and stay within your limits. In moderation chocolate is good for you. Dark chocolate is much better for you. Why suffer?

Me too I am addicted to chocolate, but when I think of remaining slim, it helps me a bit to stop thinking and eating chocolate.

Buy the cheepest chocolate you can find (you will often find it in £1 shops) and eat loads of it, it tastes that nasty that you will never ever eat any chocolate again!!
Good Luck
