I bought 1GB Sony flash disk, it was good and working coz i tested it but after one day when i inserted it on its port the computer display a message saying it is mulfuction and cannot be recognized by windows. How do i recover it? Please help me i need to use it very soon!

Well, i tried to open it on three othr machines and it brought the same message. Now, How do i format it if i cannot see it on my computer?

Try it in a different computer. If it doesn't work, try to format it. If it still doesn't work, go back to the place where you bought it and get a new one...

Try to re-format it and do a scandisk on it. Other than that I think you may need to download drivers for it if your using anything but Windows XP. Also make sure you are using a USB 2.0 port on the computer for this will slow down a flash drive if your not.

Did you try another USB drive on your motherboard? Did your flashdrive come with software or drivers to read the data? If so, reinstall that.. If not try the drive on another machine to make sure its not your USB root hub that is malfunctioning. If it doesnt work on another machine you will probably have to reformat the file system on the flash drive, as it probably got corrupted some how. If it does work on another machine then you probably need to reinstall your USB root hub drivers..
