yeah, especially considering the irony of how french wine came to be... the french had taken vines over to America in the 1800's, and then their own vineyards were all but wiped out with a devastating disease. So Americans had to take vines BACK to France to get them back on their feet again.

I guess you could say that almost all French vineyards are using American-born vines. Vive Aux Estats Unis.

I love french I just told someone that I would like a glass of sancerre even though it's only 7:20 am here! I have never had any doubt about who has the best wine!!!

There is a major over-supply of good wine from all over the world. Often French wine can be overpriced and not of the best quality for the money.

Actually, that is not really accurate anymore, though the French do still have some excellent wines.

Well there are lots of good french wines, but there are lots of good californian wines as well, and New Zeeland, Australia, Chile, South Africa, Spain, Italy.... To name a few.

But its hard to beat a bottle of Chateau Latour...

It is a matter of taste. I love French and American wines. If you want something bigger with lots of fruit and high alcohol go with American. If you need low alcohol and higher acid to work with food go with French.

There iz a lovely vineyard in Perthshire Scotchland that makes magnifique wines.
