My friend uses GHD's quite a lot and will sometimes use them twice a day. I have noticed some thinning on top... eek! What should be the recommended useage? Creams? Sprays?

Yeah - once in the morning and then if we're going out - she'll use them again! I will deffo tell her to calm down with them.

yeah, officially, their line is that it's not known to cause thinning but regular - or excessive use is bound to stress hair as the plates are very hot. i always use a heat protection spray, only use them on the bottom half of the hair and only use them three times a week.

There are many factors that can attribute to hair recession or massive hair fall and you need to find out which one exactly is responsible for the problem you are having now. Of course male pattern baldness is still the most common cause, but, for instance, if you are a woman things are deinitely different! This is the reason why you will need to really dig down and see the source of your problem.

Other causes of hair loss may include (both in men and women): severe mental or emotional stress, excessive use of coloring or bleaching agents, traction alopecia or excessive strain on the scalp due to braiding or corn rowing, hormonal changes, alopecia areata or hair loss due to autoimmune diseases, and many more. Each of these conditions will require a different approach in order to achieve success regardless of whether you're going to be using conventional or natural methods.

In my opinion it's much better to use natural methods as opposed to conventional ones, they're cheaper, have less to no side effects, and often more effective.

A good way of regaining your full head of healthy natural hair is well described on this guide: http://hairagain.toptips.org

Yeah, I'd say so as they make your hair weak and breaks them off at the roots. Use them twice a week at the most to be safe, and use the GHD oil spray. Get a good trim and let your hair 'be' until the condition improves, though it sounds like that could be a while.

I dont know if they will make you bald but I doubt using them twice a day will do any good anyway, might make your hair straight but will also damage in the long run, they can stretch and split hairs and after a while could weaken them and cause them to keep breaking.

I try to let my hair dry naturally as often as possible as my hair started to snap after drying too much with a hair dryer, Its not strong and glossy again. Using too many products or heat just damages in the long term.

I think it is more the amount of times she uses them rather than the product itself...though they do get pretty darn hot...so if she cannot calm down how many times she uses them...perhaps a good quality heat protective spray or cream before each use would be advisable and also lots of treatments and hair masques too!!

Build a good relationship with a hairdresser, and they should be able to advise you.

i think it can happen if you straighten your hair too much, the same thing is happening to my friend's sister (she straightens the heck out her hair!) - tell your friend just to maybe straighten her hair, well, LESS!
good luck :)

no they shouldnt damage your hair - if she is dying her hair too much , that may cause hairloss - but more breaking off rather than root damage!!!
