I was wondering what do the different colours mean: blue and red. Are they for different causes? Does this only relate to the UK or US aswell?

Thanks

There is no hard line rules for using different tape. Blue, yellow, orange usually means by a different manufacturer. Some tapes are for crowd control, some for crime scenes, etc.

They are pretty much interchangable.

I don't know of any protocol in the use of tape colors. My pd uses a yellow tape with the words "Police Line-Do Not Cross." I would guess that it's the preference of the person who orders the tape for the police to use.

Generally there is no standard for colors of this type tape. Different colors can be ordered by the P.D. however. Some reasons: bio-hazard, multilingual, reflective.
