I really don't know if I would deem what is happening a world war because the nations of the world are not currently locked in a large scale military struggle with each other. What is happening is an ideological war which has the potential to effect many nations before it is completed. I do believe that it could devolve into a world war though. Ideology can be a very dangerous thing when it is taken to extremes and I do believe this is what we are seeing to some degree on all sides.

God Question, Good Question!
History shows that even in the United States there has been a religous and cultural division between the urban industrial and rural
agricultural areas since discovery so to see it now playing out world wide is not surprising.
best exampole here is how destructive the Christian attitudes towards religon influenced the cultural destruction of the native populations; its very success influencing until today the belief in mainly white technological and religous superiority over rest of worlds cultures.
One cannot but wonder if it was the technological expertise that gained our supremacy and then our godliness just usurped the glory for the rewards.
Is our need for earthly wealth using our technology to convert others by force overriding religous tenets and blurring ones vision of right and wrong.
How does one end up not questioning a secular body that does not hold any life above the security of itself as being or doing their creators wishes?
Is the United States being better off due to its technological advances at the expense of other peoples health and welfare a religous entity?
It is a country that has instilled its religous fundamentalism into a populace so tht money and buisness has become the primary source of its mental well being.
A well being that religion alone used to take care of.
That a people whose religon does not conform to our religous form have now found themselves being exploited by a technologicly advanced country and looking towards their religous foundations feel threatened both in them and in body have a tendency to resist is not surprising.
It is a clash of religon and culture with technology not religous beliefs driving the destruction.
Could it be that an introspective and truthfull analasys of selves and what part our faith plays in supporting or not supporting actions of a Technological Government.
Discoveries are stumbling upon what was alredy there, but discovering if the finding advances or detracts from humanity is more important than just the discovery!

More hype than substance as the various religions have been slugging it out for eons. However the main tool of religion in regards to warfare are nations. With their rabble rousing they get one nation to fight another. So far the Islamic nations don't have the capability to take on the US and win. The only area the Islamic countries can stop the USA is in defense of their own lands and this is done by guerrilla warfare not by nation on nation warfare. I give the Muslims credit they seem to appeal more to the poor much better than Christianity and as such they are spreading like wild fire through the third world. IF the Christians don't change this they will end up strictly being a western religion.

I disagree. Most of the people of the world, regardless of their religious beliefs, have no desire to go to war with practitioners of other faiths. Why would they? What could they gain?

There are people in the world that use religion as an excuse to attack others, thereby consolidation power over their followers. These are the people that have to be removed.

It is more like the battle of civilization as we know it than religion. Radical Muslims do not represent all who practice that religion. Unless terrorism is a religion, it cannot be a religious war that we are in.
