Mine are exactly the same!
I bought them loads of great toys and treats...and lo and behold! They went for a piece of string and a plastic bag instead.
Its extremely cute! Yet annoying at the same time. =D

They chose the potato because it doesn't smell of catnip and have a cute little bell in it. LOL You can't predict what a cat will choose to play with. I never cease to be amazed by what the cats think is great fun.

Why would they choose a potato instead of the great toys? Because they're cats. Is everyone's cat that way? Mostly. That's what makes them so interesting and such great pets. If they were predictable they wouldn't be cats.

Instead of keeping all the toys out at once, rotate them. This will keep your kitties interested. I did the same thing with my kitty. He was more interested in the ribbon than his mice and cat cube. But now he and his mouse are always together.

Hi! I've had cats that played with a potato! I think because they can dig their claws into a potato and pull them put easily, it rolls in unexpected directions and they smell different!
Most cats are all weird! They definitely have great and different personalities! They are my favorite!
Have fun and enjoy your "weird' kitties!
:o)

Hi there...isn't it just like kitties to pick a favourite from something else that wasn't even given to them? My kitties received fresh organic catnip candy canes, beef and lamb cookies and canned foods with special flavours, but what did they like...the tissue paper and ribbons after taking a couple whiffs of the catnip and cookies. ;-) So unpredictable yet silly and loveable.

Cats will play with just about anything they find interesting.....I bought my kitty all types of toys....He plays with them a lot...But he also loves to play with the toilet paper roll, pens, my rubber bands, caps from bottles or anything else he is not suppose to play with!!!! Try to play with them with the toys..they may have more interest...Good Luck!

Cats are the darnest prima donnas really... so contrary... i got my two cats their very own drinking fountain (with water pump and filter) and what am I seeing at this very moment? One of my kitties is drinking from the ornamental candle and pebble fountain one of my freinds gave me for Christmas! Dang!

I dunno they are like kids that like playing with the box instead of the toy that was in it. I had a cat that loved pen caps and ignored most of the toys you would get for her, so i gave up and tossed her a bic cap now and then.
