I once read that cats spread a brain virus and it is estimated that up to 2/3 of the world's population may be infected. The article was from USA Today (I think). Anyone have any additional information about the truth behind this? How do you know if you are infected, and what can you do about it?

While it is true that cats and dogs can carry viruses and can transmit them to human (rabies is actually a virus); I can not find any evidence or info on a specific "brain" virus that they spread.

There is a type of parasitic infection that you can get from cats...and it is estimated that 60% of the US population may have or may be at high risk for this.

It is called Toxoplasmosis (1)
