I started lifting weights when I was 14 just for fun, when I was 15 I took it up more seriously and trained to become a body builder. My mom is 5'6", my dad is 5'9", my older sister is 5'5" and I never got above 4'11". I would say just work out lightly with weights (light weight with 12-15 reps per exercise) until you are 18 or so and then step up the intensity if you would like. I have heard that it does stump your growth and well, for me, that could have very well been true! Just make sure you are getting a really good vitamin and that your diet is well balanced, that will help too. I should add that I am now 32 and never grew anymore than 4'11", and am the absolute shortest one in our family, lol.

Your genes are pre-programmed. Your body was pre-programmed at the time of conception and there is little anyone can do to change it. Nutrition also plays a big part in growth, but the genetic make up of your ansestors plays the biggest role in your growth. My advice is to learn to love yourself the way you are made, warts and all.
Lifting weights will build muscle, and muscle burns more calories than no muscle. If you are male, you will build muscle. If female, you won't build muscle the way a man does but you will firm up; something all women like to see in themselves. Hopefully, the end result in your activity will be that you feel more confident and strong.

smoking wont stunt your growth significantly so dont bother ruining your health, lift weights to look good if you want, otherwise you are just about done growing. i stayed at 5'8" since i was 14. be happy that you are over 6' because us shorties have issues with girls that are taller than us and those that get taller by wearing heels

not realli unless u have an injury doing weight lifting
if ur doing light weights nothing will happen to ur height n no damages to joints n bones etc. proggress slowly and ur body will get use to it. weight lifting will increse ur bone density as well. as long as ur lefting weights in which u can perform min 10 - 12 reps u have nuthin to worry about

No, but you will grow stronger... and at some point, that will get you rid of the idiots joking about how tall you are.

I think it is a good idea... plus, you may get a sport scholarship, who knows.

Hello =)

Why would you want to stop growing....(you probably are nearly done anyway)...??

Lifting weights will have no effect on your height...

If you really want to stop growing, start smoking...

Namaste, and Happy Holidays,

Your genetics are preprogramed. You are just going to have to keep growing.
