I delivered my baby on Dec 24th, and I had an epidural (which wore off) and then a spinal block (which they messed up the first time and had to re-do it). Since then my legs have been very swollen, especially my right leg and ankle. My left isn't that bad. Also, my right leg is a little numb too.

Is this normal? Should I be worried?

Thank you!

You have excess fluid,Set up an appointment w/ your dr as soon as you can.meanwhile, reduce your salt intake and elevate your legs (keeping them higher than your chest) Swelling is common during & after pregnancy but if you feel a lot of discomfort or "elephantis" of the feet/legs it could indicate thrombosis.

The leg that is swollen is it also warmer than the other one? Also is there any pain in your legs? I would call your Dr/NHS 24 or visit A&E/ER. Tell them everything and that you think that it might be a blood clot you maybe seen quicker that way. They will do an arterial blood test to check if you do have a clot.

Please do this today it may not be a blood clot in fact there is every chance that it's not but it's definitely best to be on the safe side, I'm speaking as someone who had a misdiagnosed blood clot and it ended up going through my heart and lung.

Please let us know how you got on and hope it nothing too serious.

The swelling could just be from all the IV fluids that they probably gave you. Keep your legs elevated.

The numbness does not sound normal. I'd go ahead and call your doc and tell him what is up.

No this doesn't sound normal, especially the numb part. Please call your doctor immediatly, you could be forming a blood clot. Blood clots are very dangerous and can happen after surgery or giving birth. If it breaks loose and goes to your heart or lungs you won't be able to get help fast enough. Please take this seriously, i had a friend die from one 6 years ago after spraining her ankle. I am sending my prayers for you...

Very normal dont worry. When you are hooked up to the iv in the hospital they are pumping you with fluids. It will go away get your man to massage them and keep them elevated.
